That's weird.  Mandrake's 9.1 install defaults to Lilo on the MBR of the first 
drive and it certainly detected the Windows I had on a second drive and added 
it to the lilo menu automatically so I suspect it would have detected a Linux 
install on a second drive as well.  Not only was the installation messed up, 
someone had to put in *effort* to mess it up.  I don't think your colleague 
really had just been "disc-feeding" and pressing "Enter" but decided to mess 
around with the advanced options.
