As far as I know, pipermail doesn't cope with much of anything! :P
It certainly doesn't like email encoded using MIME, which means any
RFC-compliant PGP signed or encrypted messages, or messages that people
have attached files in.

I'm not really aware of any decent web based mail archive tool that does
handle everything that is free.  Perhaps a project for interested
parties?
