eth1-eth9 problems (SEC: UNCLASSIFIED)

Hi, can anyone tell me what this means?

modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth1
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth2
modprobe........
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth9

I am trying to compile a new kernel for my Compaq evo n600c and have been
struggling with it for weeks. The above came out of my /var/log/messages
file and I would just like to know what is causing it as I obviously do not
have 9 ethernet devices.
